My LifeLabs Review

I had an appointment scheduled for 2:25 p.m. for blood work. I arrived expecting a routine visit, but instead I ended up waiting for more than one hour while staff tried to determine how to process my blood test.

The reason for the delay was that I had two separate blood test requisitions from two different physicians. Both requisitions were important and needed to be completed the same day.

Unfortunately, the staff appeared unsure how to proceed. Rather than having a clear process, they repeatedly consulted other employees to ask what should be done. As time passed, it became apparent that no one seemed to know the correct procedure. Throughout the wait, I received little information about how long it would take or when the issue would be resolved.

From a patient’s perspective, this was both frustrating and concerning. Situations involving multiple physician requisitions are not uncommon, and patients reasonably expect laboratory staff to have established procedures for handling them.

Why This Experience Was Disappointing

Patients schedule appointments to save time and receive efficient service. Waiting over an hour because staff are uncertain about internal procedures can create unnecessary stress, particularly when blood work is time-sensitive or requires fasting.

In my case, both requisitions were medically important and needed to be completed that day, making the delay even more frustrating.

My Recommendation

Based on my personal experience, I would recommend considering a different LifeLabs location if possible, especially if your appointment involves multiple requisitions or anything that may require additional processing.

Of course, every patient’s experience may differ, but this was my experience at this particular location.
