My Disappointing Experience at Pho Day Restaurant in Scarborough

If you’re searching for Pho Day reviews, Pho Day Scarborough complaints, or customer experiences with Pho Day at Woodside Square, I strongly encourage you to read about what happened during my recent visit.

On October 20, 2026, I visited Pho Day Restaurant, located at 1571 Sandhurst Circle, Unit 159-C, Scarborough, Ontario, to purchase several Vietnamese food items for takeout.

What should have been a straightforward restaurant visit turned into a frustrating experience involving pork chops that I found dry and insufficiently hot, questions about how the food was prepared, and a customer complaint that remained unresolved despite repeated attempts to communicate with restaurant management.

Even more concerning, while researching Pho Day reviews afterward, I discovered that Google Maps was displaying a consumer warning concerning suspicious high-rated reviews associated with the restaurant.

Here is my experience, including what happened when I placed my order and how restaurant management responded to my complaint.

October 20, 2026: What I Ordered at Pho Day

During my visit, I placed an order for several Vietnamese dishes.

My purchase included two separate orders of pork chops with rice. Each order contained two pieces of pork chop, meaning I ordered four pork chops in total, divided between two rice meals.

I also ordered a pork dish with vermicelli noodles and a bowl of pho soup containing beef brisket and rice noodles.

My complaint specifically concerns the pork chop and rice dishes and the restaurant’s handling of my complaint afterward. I am not making the same criticism of every item purchased.

I expected reasonably fresh, properly prepared takeout food, particularly the pork chops.

Unfortunately, my experience raised questions almost immediately.

The Pork Chops Were Ready in Approximately One Minute

When I placed my order at the cashier, the employee entered the items into the restaurant’s ordering system.

Immediately after entering the order, he went into the kitchen.

To my surprise, approximately one minute later, he returned carrying two takeout containers containing the pork chops with rice.

I was genuinely surprised by how quickly those dishes had been prepared.

I commented to the cashier:

“Oh wow, that was very fast!”

I then asked whether the pork chops had been cooked fresh or whether the restaurant already had them prepared.

His response surprised me even more.

According to my recollection of our conversation, the cashier explained that restaurants generally prepare or pre-cook certain foods ahead of time because there is not enough time to cook everything from scratch when a customer places an order.

However, there is an important difference between advance preparation and serving meat that has lost its desirable temperature, moisture, and texture.

At that point, I still gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt.

Unfortunately, my concerns grew when I arrived home and tried the food.

Dry, Tough, and Not Hot: My Experience With the Pork Chops

When I got home and tried the pork chops, I was extremely disappointed.

The meat was noticeably dry and lacked the juicy, tender texture I normally expect from a well-prepared pork chop.

The pork chops were also not hot when I ate them.

To me, the overall quality was unsatisfactory.

The experience made me question whether these particular portions had been prepared significantly earlier and then held before being served.

I also briefly wondered whether the containers might originally have been prepared for another customer, perhaps for an order that was canceled or never collected.

I want to be clear that this was only a suspicion. I have no evidence that Pho Day served me a canceled order, and I cannot establish exactly when or how the pork chops were cooked or stored.

My concern came from the combination of the exceptionally quick handover, the cashier’s explanation about advance preparation, and the condition of the meat when I ate it.

I cannot determine what happened inside the kitchen.

Regardless of the preparation method, I was dissatisfied with the quality of the pork chops I received.

For a paying customer ordering Vietnamese pork chop rice dishes, freshness, tenderness, temperature, and overall food quality are important considerations.

In my opinion, the meal fell short of reasonable expectations.

I Contacted Pho Day Immediately to Complain

Shortly after trying the pork chops, I called Pho Day Restaurant to explain my dissatisfaction.

I spoke with the same employee who had taken my order and handed me the takeout containers.

I explained my concerns about the pork chops being dry and not hot, as well as the unusually fast preparation time.

Unfortunately, the employee told me that he could not do anything about the situation.

I asked how I could contact the restaurant owner.

He advised me to call back the following day.

I agreed and followed his instructions.

October 21, 2026: My Attempt to Contact the Restaurant Owner

The following day, October 21, 2026, I called Pho Day again and asked to speak with the owner.

I was told the owner was unavailable.

Because I wanted to resolve the issue directly with the restaurant rather than immediately making a public complaint, I decided to send an email requesting contact from the owner.

At approximately 3:48 a.m. on October 21, 2026, I sent an email to the restaurant’s publicly listed email address, vietnamphoday@gmail.com.

The email was addressed to the restaurant owner, marked as urgent, and requested that the owner contact me regarding a matter I wanted to discuss personally.

Unfortunately, I did not receive a response to that email before following up again.

After waiting, I called the restaurant once more.

When I asked for the owner, an employee questioned why I wanted to speak with them.

I explained that I had a customer complaint.

I was then transferred to someone who identified himself as the restaurant manager.

His name was Lincoln.

My Communication With Lincoln, Who Identified Himself as the Manager

I explained the entire situation to Lincoln, including the order I placed, the condition of the pork chops, and my unsuccessful attempts to contact the owner.

Lincoln told me that he would send me a text message so that I could communicate with him directly.

He also requested proof of my purchase.

Specifically, he asked me to provide a copy of my credit card transaction showing that I had purchased food from Pho Day.

I cooperated with that request.

On October 24, 2026, I sent him a screenshot of my credit card statement showing the Pho Day transaction.

The transaction information confirmed that the purchase took place on October 20, 2026, and was posted to my credit card account on October 21, 2026.

I also sent him a screenshot of the email I had previously sent to the restaurant owner.

Lincoln subsequently advised me that he was unable to receive the screenshots through the text message conversation.

To accommodate his request, I sent the information to his email address instead.

I then followed up to confirm whether he had received the documents.

Despite providing the requested information, I still had difficulty obtaining a clear explanation of what the restaurant intended to do about my complaint.

October 25, 2026: Pho Day Located My Order

On October 25, 2026, Lincoln sent me a message explaining that the restaurant was working on the matter and reviewing its transaction history.

He indicated that he would contact me once the order was located.

Later that afternoon, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Lincoln confirmed that the restaurant had found my order.

He then asked whether I would return to the restaurant on Tuesday so that he could assist me in person.

Naturally, I wanted to understand what he intended to offer before making another trip.

I asked him directly what the restaurant was prepared to do.

At approximately 6:41 p.m., Lincoln responded with the following message:

“U gonna see me in person, u will be happy about the result”

That statement suggested to me that he already had some type of proposed resolution in mind.

However, he did not explain what it was.

Why Would the Restaurant Not Explain Its Proposed Resolution?

I repeatedly and politely asked Lincoln to clarify the company’s position.

I explained that I did not want to travel back to the restaurant without any idea of what was being proposed.

To me, that was a reasonable request.

I was not asking for special treatment, nor was I demanding a particular form of compensation in the text messages.

I simply wanted to know what the business intended to do about the disappointing pork chop rice dishes I had purchased.

Lincoln initially responded by asking me to visit on Tuesday or Thursday after noon.

He also wrote:

“there is no surprise. There is only respect.”

I appreciated the reference to respect, but I believe respecting a customer’s time also means communicating clearly when trying to resolve a complaint.

I continued asking what the restaurant planned to do.

Unfortunately, the conversation became increasingly frustrating.

October 26, 2026: The Manager Refused to Confirm Any Offer in Writing

After I explained that I wanted a clear answer before returning, Lincoln sent another message at approximately 2:19 a.m. on October 26, 2026.

He stated:

“I’m not able to confirm any resolution or offer in writing before we meet and review this together in person.”

He again offered to meet at the restaurant.

He also explained that the next steps could be discussed only after an in-person conversation.

I responded that he had previously assured me I would be happy with the result, which had reasonably led me to believe that he had a particular solution in mind.

I explained that I valued my time and did not believe I should have to make another trip merely to discover what the company was prepared to offer.

I also clarified that I was not demanding an immediate commitment. I was simply requesting transparency about the proposed resolution.

Lincoln’s final response reiterated that the restaurant was willing to discuss the complaint in person but would not make any commitment through text messages.

He further stated:

“If you choose not to come, we will not be able to move this forward by message.”

I found this disappointing.

To be fair, Lincoln did offer to meet in person, and the restaurant did not explicitly reject my complaint or refuse every possible remedy.

However, it declined to explain any proposed resolution before an in-person meeting.

As of October 26, 2026, the matter remained unresolved.

Pho Day Google Reviews: Google’s Suspicious High-Rated Reviews Warning

While researching Pho Day Restaurant reviews on Google Maps, I noticed something else that caught my attention.

Google was displaying a warning on the restaurant’s business listing.

The warning stated:

“Suspicious high-rated reviews were recently removed from this place”

When I opened the additional information, Google displayed the following message:

“Posting reviews is turned off for this place”

The explanation continued:

“Google has temporarily turned off posting reviews due to a recent increase in suspicious high-rated reviews. The suspicious reviews were removed and the rating updated.”

At the time I captured the screenshot, the Pho Day Google Maps listing showed a rating of approximately 4.4 stars, with 654 reviews.

This warning is particularly relevant to customers researching Pho Day reviews in Scarborough before deciding whether to visit the restaurant.

Google publicly explains that it may remove suspicious reviews, display consumer warnings, and temporarily restrict review posting when its systems detect suspicious review activity.

That said, I want to distinguish what Google’s warning establishes from what remains unknown.

The warning confirms that Google identified and removed suspicious high-rated reviews and temporarily restricted new review submissions.

Nevertheless, seeing such an alert on a restaurant’s Google Maps listing is concerning to me as a consumer.

Online reviews play an important role in customers’ purchasing decisions.

When a platform identifies suspicious review activity, customers have good reason to examine the available reviews carefully rather than relying solely on the overall star rating.

Why This Pho Day Complaint Remains Unresolved

My dissatisfaction with Pho Day goes beyond the pork chops themselves.

Restaurants can occasionally make mistakes. A meal may not meet a customer’s expectations, or something may go wrong during preparation.

What matters just as much is how the business responds afterward.

In my situation, I made multiple efforts to resolve the matter directly with the restaurant.

I called the restaurant immediately after discovering the problem.

I called again the following day.

I emailed the owner.

I followed up after receiving no response.

I spoke with someone who identified himself as the manager.

I provided proof of payment and copies of my previous correspondence.

I continued communicating through text messages, hoping to obtain a straightforward explanation of what the company intended to do.

After all those efforts, I was still being told that I needed to return to the restaurant without knowing what resolution might be available.

I recognize that some businesses prefer to discuss sensitive complaints face to face.

However, I believe a business should make a reasonable effort to communicate the purpose of a meeting and any proposed solution in advance, especially after the customer has already explained the issue and supplied proof of purchase.

From my perspective, the restaurant’s approach was unnecessarily inconvenient.

I should not have to make repeated telephone calls, send follow-up messages, provide the same information through multiple communication channels, and then travel back to the restaurant simply to learn what management might be willing to do.

My Recommendation: I Will Not Return to Pho Day

Based on my personal experience with the food and the subsequent handling of my complaint, we highly recommend avoiding Pho Day Restaurant at 1571 Sandhurst Circle, Unit 159-C, Scarborough, Ontario.

This recommendation reflects our own customer experience and opinion.

I understand that other customers may have had positive experiences at this establishment, and I am not claiming that every meal served at Pho Day has the same problems.

However, I can only judge the restaurant based on the food I received and how my concerns were handled.

The pork chops with rice were disappointing, the process of obtaining a response was frustrating, and no resolution had been agreed upon despite several days of communication.

The Google Maps warning regarding suspicious high-rated reviews added another reason for me to approach the restaurant’s online reputation cautiously.

For those reasons, I will not be returning to Pho Day Restaurant, particularly while my complaint remains unresolved.

Consumers deserve good food, honest communication, and reasonable customer service when something goes wrong.

In my experience, Pho Day fell short of those expectations.

How to File a Complaint About a Restaurant in Scarborough, Ontario

If you have experienced a problem at Pho Day or another restaurant in Toronto or Scarborough, several organizations may be able to receive a complaint, review your concerns, or direct you to appropriate resources.

The correct organization depends on whether the issue involves customer service, a consumer transaction, food safety, or potentially misleading business practices.

  • Better Business Bureau (BBB): Customers may submit a business complaint or share their experience with the Better Business Bureau. The BBB is an independent nonprofit organization, not a government regulator, and may help facilitate communication between a customer and a business. • Consumer Protection Ontario: If you believe a business may have violated applicable Ontario consumer protection legislation, you can review the provincial complaint process. Not every disappointing meal or customer-service dispute necessarily constitutes a legal violation. Visit https://www.ontario.ca/page/filing-consumer-complaint.
  • Toronto Public Health – DineSafe: If your concern involves potentially unsafe food handling, preparation, storage, sanitation, or suspected foodborne illness, you may contact Toronto Public Health. • Competition Bureau Canada: If you possess credible evidence of misleading advertising, fabricated customer reviews, or deceptive marketing practices, you may submit information to the federal Competition Bureau for assessment. A Google consumer warning alone does not establish responsibility by the business. The Competition Bureau does not resolve individual refund disputes. Visit https://competition-bureau.canada.ca/en/contact-competition-bureau-canada/complaint-form.
  • Google Maps: If you observe a review that you believe violates Google’s policies, you can report that specific review through Google Maps. Google determines whether its content policies have been violated. Learn more at https://support.google.com/contributionpolicy.
  • Your Credit Card Issuer: If you paid by credit card and cannot resolve a purchase dispute with the merchant, you can contact your card issuer to ask whether the transaction qualifies for a dispute. A refund or chargeback is not automatic, and eligibility depends on the circumstances and applicable card rules.

When submitting a complaint, it is useful to retain purchase receipts, transaction records, emails, text messages, photographs, and a written timeline of what happened.

Final Thoughts: My Pho Day Restaurant Review and Consumer Warning

My October 20, 2026 visit to Pho Day Restaurant in Scarborough was disappointing.

What began as a simple takeout purchase involving pork chops with rice, pork vermicelli noodles, and beef brisket pho developed into a drawn-out customer-service complaint.

The pork chops were dry and not hot when I ate them at home. The cashier’s explanation about advance food preparation raised questions for me, although I cannot independently verify how my particular meal was prepared.

My attempts to contact the owner were unsuccessful, and my subsequent discussions with the manager did not produce an agreed resolution.

The manager offered an in-person meeting but declined to outline a proposed resolution through text messages.

Separately, Google Maps displayed a warning that suspicious high-rated reviews had been removed from the restaurant’s listing and that new review posting had been temporarily disabled.

Taken together, these experiences have left me with little confidence in returning to this establishment.

Our recommendation is to avoid Pho Day Restaurant based on this experience. I personally do not intend to return, as the matter remains unresolved.
